Basketball, figure skating, dance, hockey… Shooting community events can be a lot of work, but it’s also great learning and very rewarding. The work comes from keeping focussed and alert – sometimes for days in a row – always trying to keep my shots fresh and deliberate, and not getting lazy or loose. The learning comes from working intensively with just one subject and getting to know what compositions work best, what to anticipate, what to watch for. The reward comes from sharing a collection of photos with my community that celebrates young athletes’ determination, talent, and, well… their moxie – yep, that’s the word I’m looking for.
Below a sampling of photos from last weekend’s sporting blitz from the Prince Rupert Civic Centre, or browse through the full galleries on my client proofing site.
